A federal rebate for home batteries is on the table from the re-elected Government.
The Federal Labor party has pledged to reduce the expense of buying and setting up a new home battery as part of a $2.3 billion initiative that is central to its campaign for re-election. The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is planned to commence on 1 July 2025.
According to the Australian Labor Party, “A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will make batteries cheaper, slashing energy bills for households, small businesses and community facilities by up to 90 per cent. Through our scheme, households will be able to purchase a typical battery with a 30 per cent discount on installed costs – saving around $4000 on a typical battery.”
